The best current curtain trends

This season’s curtain trends range from understated to bold.

Curtains are an important element in any room, and if you are looking to transform your space, you might consider experimenting with a new trend. The latest curtain trends range from classic neutrals and crisp sheer fabrics, to bold patterns and rich hues. Read on to find out which curtain styles are popular this season, and what suits your particular style…

Sheer curtains

Sheer curtains are right on trend this season and if you like natural light, you’ll love this look. Beautiful in fresh white, sheer curtains have the ability to let in just enough light without compromising on privacy and proper coverage. If you want to let in plenty of natural light during the day, but prefer a block-out effect at night, you might consider hanging your sheer curtains on a double curtain rod —that way you can pair them with thicker, darker blackout curtains to use when the sun goes down.

Matte velvet

Ideal for those who love a dramatic, luxe look, velvet curtains really add a touch of opulence to any space. The fabric brings texture to any room and looks beautiful in rich jewel tones, like cobalt, green and berry. Velvet curtains work well in a setting where you’re looking for a black-out effect thanks to their combination of weight and function.

Bold patterns

Hanging patterned curtains is a great way to add some fun and style to a room without having to change any other décor elements or the colour of your walls. If you’re looking for a way to freshen up your space, you might consider bright colours or a daring pattern — think ombre, florals, geometric prints or stripes for a striking highlight.

Neutral tones

Classic and chic, curtains in neutral shades are perfect for monochromatic spaces. Play with shades of tan, grey and beige for an elegant look, and go for natural, hardwearing fabrics like linen. Neutral curtains pair beautifully with furniture in a similar colour palette, although there’s no need to worry if the shade is not exactly the same.

Rich shades

If you prefer bolder colours, you’ll love jewel-toned curtains, which have been very popular this year. Dark blue is having a moment — in curtains, walls, furniture and accent décor elements — but hunter green and mustard are also right on trend.
